Lufthansa Business Class Lounge, Heathrow Terminal 2
One of the best things about this lounge is the location. Once through security and you’re at the airside, just turn right, walk a few paces, and the lounge entrance is clearly visible.
I have visited it a couple of times, and have mixed feelings about it. On both occasions my flights were early morning, which meant the place was nearly empty. Upon entering, there was no friendly smiley welcome, but just my boarding pass checked and pointed towards the interior.

Lounge entrance
There are two area to the lounge. The main section as you enter is for Business Class passengers, and at the back the ‘Senator’ lounge entrance.
I was told it was for the ‘elite’ passengers only, and having made a peek I could not see what was so special.
Dining area
Back to my area, the furnishings were formal complimenting the Lufthansa colours, comfortable but not luxurious. Although fairly large, I imagine once the place got busy there would be no secluded spaces for relaxation, or privacy, although I did find a small corner with just five pool side type seating for anyone wanting to stretch out a little. The leather sofa style chairs however were very comfortable, and had power points and USB sockets nearby, and excellent WiFi connection. There were several coat hangers placed around.
There was also a rather dull and uninviting business centre, with a few computers and one long table for a small group conference. Nearby was a large departure monitor and newspaper/magazine shelves. The toilets were spotlessly clean, but there were no shower rooms. It’s shame, as not having shower rooms meant those arriving from a long haul flight and connecting via this lounge had no opportunity to freshen up.
Although one side of the lounge had views the apron and aircraft activity, the view was blocked by some screens up against the glass panels.
The food and beverage area was well stocked. Plenty of breakfast items from cold cuts, fruit, cereals, pastries, yoghurts and a small selection of hot western cuisine - bacon, tomato, scrambled eggs etc. The fry-up breakfast was fine on my first visit. But the second time I visited, the bacon was hard and dry, almost like it was old food that had been heated up! The dining area was plain, more canteen style with white tables and chairs, as well as a counter with bar stool type seating.
The bar section was good, with plenty of alcoholic (including premium brands) and soft drinks. The coffee was excellent. Everything here was self service, and I hardly saw any staff, except when they popped up from nowhere, efficiently cleared and tidied the breakfast tables and then disappeared.
I guess this Lufthansa lounge primarily serves the short haul traveller. There are no areas to explore or indulge in a grand scale and no sleep rooms like some Asian or Middle Eastern airline lounges. As most visitors here would be travelling within Europe and with connections beyond, you are provided with the bare essentials in a quiet, formal and very clean environment to relax in. So for me spending an hour here before my flight was quite adequate.
Overall a fairly satisfactory experience, but nothing to shout about. However, I did expect more from Lufthansa (being rated a 5 Star airline by Skytrax). An airline lounge should be a showcase for the hospitality one can expect and experience during your flight too. In this aspect, although the lounge functioned well, in terms of charm and friendly atmosphere, I found my experience on both occasions, a little disappointing.
